PROGRAM PROTECTION PLAN TIPS

Program Protection is designed to cover both you and the cost of your program arrangements against a variety of unforeseeable reasons that may affect you or your program plans. Our custom plan helps us provide travelers with the protection they need both before and during their travels.

It’s important that you understand how you are covered and when is the best time to buy.

Use the arrows below to learn more about these and other topics.

It's Not Just About You!

Many people only consider their own health when deciding about program insurance. It is not uncommon for younger people to assume that because they are healthy, program insurance is not needed. But what about parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, aunts and uncles? Remember program insurance covers you if something happens to you or to any of these people, causing you to cancel your program.

Buy Early

For a variety of reasons, it is prudent to purchase program protection when you first book your program (i.e. make your first payment for program arrangements). Why? Most program protection policies contain one or more time sensitive provisions that broaden coverage. The time sensitive provision applies to waiving of the Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion.

Do I have Coverage Through My Credit Card?

While credit cards often provide benefits for Accidental Death & Dismemberment and other limited benefits and services, they generally do not provide the comprehensive benefits available under a program protection plan.

Program Protection Basics

Program protection plans include benefits intended to protect you, your travel investment and your belongings. The basic benefits include:

Program Cancellation/ Interruption to reimburse you should you have to cancel or interrupt your program for a covered medical or non-medical reason.

Medical Expense/Emergency Assistance to cover medical expenses and emergency transportation for a sickness or injury that occurs while you are traveling.

Program Delay Benefits to cover your out-of-pocket meal and accommodation expenses due to flight delays or cancellations or for other similar covered reasons. You must be delayed for a specified amount of time, such as 12 hours or more.

Baggage and Baggage Delay to cover loss or damage to your baggage or personal items or the cost of buying toiletries or personal articles if your baggage is delayed for a specified amount of time.

Program Cancellation

This benefit covers the non-refundable program costs when you must cancel your program plans.

All plans cover cancellation for covered medical reasons (such as Sickness, Injury or death of you, a Family Member or Traveling Companion).

Additionally, certain non-medical reasons will be covered as well, such as: air carrier delays or cancellations, theft of travel documents, damage or destruction of your home, etc.

Program Interruption

This benefit covers the cost of your unused, non-refundable land or water program arrangements and the additional air expense to either resume your trip or return home, if you interrupt your program plans and/or return home early from your program for the same types of medical or non-medical reasons covered for Program Cancellation.

Medical Expense/Emergency Assistance

This benefit reimburses you for medical treatment during your program if you become sick or are injured while traveling. Additionally, air transport expenses (such as upgraded air arrangements, air ambulance, including doctor or nurse escort expenses) for medical evacuation are covered, if needed to obtain the appropriate level of care required for your condition.

When To Buy Program Protection

For a variety of reasons, it is prudent to purchase program protection when you first book your program (i.e. make your first payment for program arrangements).

Why? Most program protection policies contain one or more time sensitive provisions that broaden coverage. The time sensitive provision applies to waiving of the Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion.

** Certain Benefits and Coverages (the Cancel for Any Reason Benefit) are subject to payment for your plan being received within 21 days of the initial Payment or Deposit for Your Program.
